Recently tried to reinstall Win XP Pro without overwriting existing
installation.  During installation I received several error messages
indicating that about 50 \i386 related files could not be found.  I
now have problems with networking and windows installer.  Any

Hi.  I'm new here and I am in some dire need of assistance.  My (other

I have a problem with a new installation XP Pro: seems to boot as
normal, and gets to the blue "Loading personal settings" screen with
the Windows logo, but it doesn't display the words, just the logo.

Friends, I am using WinXP home sp2 and IE7. I often receive messages with
internal links referring to other parts of the message. Until a month ago
these were working just fine. I would click on the internal link and IE7
would jump to the appropriate place in the message.

Hi, Recently, (about 6 months) I have been getting 7 windows opening of
Explorer (not internet) when the computer is started up (switched on). Using
window XP Pro, SP2 installed.
I don't know why it has started doing it, and have checked in the start

hi, i am having a problem starting my pc i power it up then after a couple of
seconds it comes up a black screen with the messege below :
"windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt

 I received a virus on my laptop sometime in June of this year.  When
I attempt to perform a system restore, it will only give me points
that are after August until today.  Is there any way to get earlier
system restore points or are they lost forever?  Thanks in advance for

Long distance friend - newbie  - does not have sp2 but claims to be getting
updates from M.S.         If sp2 install is bad she would be stuck.
Is she ok with xp  w/o  sp2 if she is getting updates?

when clicking on an account on the Welcome screen, in-between the box that
appears for the password and the arrow that you click on, there's now the

WANT TO RESTRICT ACCESS TO A FOLDER.
I WANT TO ALLOW ONLY TWO USERS (one Local and the other on the network)
ACCESS TO A SPECIAL FOLDER.

I have one mapped drive as F:, that I cant change because it works with a
DOS program that uses this driver letter, so if I change the mapped drive to

When trying to open Word/Access/Excel there is a pop-up headed "Windows
Installer".  The box is filled with "Preparing to Install" with the usual
blue computer logo.  
Then another window headed "ccCommon"; the message is "Please wait while
