I have a Thinkpad T42 with Xp Pro, with all the latest updates. It crashed and as I do not have the Recovery CD - in any case, I do not wish to do a Repair Installation - I am attempting a ' Repair Installation ' with a copy of Win Xp Home Retail CD.

I've got a new 500gb seagate harddisk, contained in a casing, which is connected to my laptop having XP Home edition OS. When i click on the disk management, it shows the drive, but i am not able to partition the disk nor format it. It shows as unallocated. I wonder why is it

I have a friend that has an Hp pavilion desktop, for some reason he hit system recovery on start up, so it wiped out want he had on his hard drive. I called HP and asked them, is there any way to undo the system recovery and I was told no.

I have just reinstalled Windows XP and the text (not HTML) in the incoming messages looks considerably different than before the reinstall. I have tried to make font changes without success. Can anyone tell me how to change the font on incoming text mssages? Thank you.

Just put a new mother board and intel duo combo in place and a safe boot fails at Mup.sys. If I try to reinstall from an XP upgrade disc I get an alert that I can't find processor instruction CPUID & CMPXCHG8B. Bios shows the processor so I'm confused at that on. Thoughts?

Hi, my WinXP Pro SP 2 will not address ram memory above aprox 1.1 GB. It does not go to pagefile.sys - it simple refuses to go above 1.1GB System has 4 GB, even changed RAM chips to see if it was faulty chips. System properties shows the expexted 3.25 GB RAM.
