My daughter's Advent 7088 took a routine Windows XP upgrade a few days
ago and since then won't start up.
We get the option to start in safe mode or to go back to last good
configuration but that makes no difference.

Under System Devices there is ! beside Microsoft System Management BIOS
Driver.  I tried the update wizard for a new driver with no luck.  What does
the ! mean & do I need to get it fixed?  If so, how?  THANK YOU!

strange problem on a friend PC: After a failed program installation,
a) xp pro became very very slow to open My Computer/Explorer and
b) his PC would "always" boot with the startup menu before running ok in

Hey I am experiencing some problems on 5 out of 10 XP Pro SP2 installed
systems on my site.  This is an intermittent error that pops up throughout

I had to reinstall XP Home Edition.  Microsoft.com updates has my computer
listed as already having SP2, which it did BEFORE reinstallaition.  Do I
really NEED SP1 & SP2?  If so, how do I get microsoft to allow me to download
both/either again?

My speakers work fine but when I plug in my headphone it doesn't play on the
headphones but the speakers still play. It's like my headphone jack doesn't
pick up my headphones and i have tryed a few different headphones. Can any
body help?

I have some pages that just freeze or say loading,like Myspace and
Myjeepspace and it will not load,most of the time I have to hit ctrl-alt-del
just to close IE. and then sometimes it works fine for awhile? but it's not a

Hi.  I'm getting a similar message as others, however, my machine gives me
the error just after the post and before the OS (winxp) loads, then shuts
down.  Any ideas on what to try?

I had to reinstall all the software on my PC after a few problems (and years
