Previous versions of Windows (...95, ...98, ...ME, etc.) made a small sound
(like a beep) when I changed between regular upper and lower case typing and
all upper case. The current version (XP with SP 2) does not make the sound.

I am about to do a clean install of XP on a new HDD. My son likes to
play minesweeper and he has the best scores so far. I assume these
scores are kept in a file somewhere on the system. I would like to copy

I'm looking at the System log with Event Viewer.  There are over 2700
entries for Service Control Manager in the log.  In fact there are so
many that the log only has entries for the last hour or so.
All entries are event 7035 or 7036.  There are no errors, but clearly

For the past few days I have started seeing this weird problem where
when I try to send
and email, a gui interface pops up asking me to install Windows XP. I
have tried reinstalling IE7

Just tried to install XP SP3 and received error "Access Denied."  Anyone
else get this error and has resolved the problem?

For some reason, the toolbars on IE, OE and even Firefox have changed to a
darker color.  I went so far as to do a compete restore back to October and
shortly after restoring my mail the taskbars changed to the darker color
again.  It sort of tan, not beige.  I am completely unable ...

When installing new hardware i.e. printer, camera, card etc, WXP doesn't
prompt me to go online and get the latest drivers.I only get the option to
use a CD or search a specific location.
My laptop used to ask me that before, but I don't know when it stopped.

I've seen a few posts similar to this but did not see a solution.
I have two hard disks, with disk 0 having C and E partitions and disk
1 having F and G partitions.  Yesterday, in Windows Explorer, I
noticed that F and G were not appearing.

I've posted about this before but still haven't cured the problem.
Often, when I click on a link in e-mail, I'll get the Page Not Displayed
notice.    Then, when I leave that site and return to it, the link will
often open.   It's doing this more and more and is pretty annoying.

I reformatted to get rid of old junk. It is my intention to reinstall xp.  It
would appear that the reformatting went well.  It stated when it was finished
to type exit and hit enter.  It would restart.
Well, It did restart with this message "NTLDR is missing  Press Ctrl + Alt

In 10.2007 I reformatted my Dell Centrino Notebook PC (has 1 GB memory) hard
drive and reinstalled Windows XP Pro incl all MS updates and lengthy SP2.
Everything was DANDY and I slowly installed applications like MS Office 2003.
I did have hassle with Symantec reinstalling ...

Updates on January 7th have changed the way that "Standby" works in that the
computer no longer closes down to a level when fans are switched off and,
futhermore when re-starting from Standby some programs (printing, for example)
do not open properly until a complete re-boot.

my laptop has crashed in a spectacular way i cannot reboot it the error
message reads "unmountable_boot_volume" i cannot find my xp cd so how can i
get a copy of one i have tried using a friends one but i still cannot reboot
from cd any suggestions?

Is there any easy way to copy my system partition over to a new HD?

Is there any way I can avoid having to click on the maximize button every
time an Internet window, a program window, or a file window opens and have
the window always open in maximized mode?  I have searched the Windows XP
