Im using Xp Home Edition Sp2
I was running the Windows error check on my HDD and left it running. I
accidently switched my computer off while it was running.
I cannot boot windows anymore. The boot progress gets to the screen where

When my computer starts up, I get the following error message:
"Error: Access violation at 0x7C918FEA (tried to write to 0x01C86A83),
program terminated."
The Event Viewer shows an error with source crypt32. (eight in a row, event 8)

It then terminates program.
I have everything scanned for viruses and spyware.
Only happens in downloadable games from Pogo.com

of...went to properties but I can't highlight any theme...I already re-booted

Windows XP, SP2 interrupted by electric storm.  On restart "chkdsk" ran and completed.  NOW, every time the computer is booted, "chkdsk" reruns and everything seems to run fine.  How do I prevent "chkdsk" from running every time I boot my machine ?
Any help will be appreciated!

Sometime within the past few months when I turn on my PC it runs continously.
The only way I can get things working is to turn it off and back on again.  
Sometimes this has to be done 2 or 3 times before the boot-up completes. I
have run REGCure, Avast Anti-Virus, and XoftSpySE ...

I recently changed to Windows XP from Windows Home Server.
However, it might seem this wasn't very smart, as WHS left its permissions
behind, meaning that I can't access half my folders and files now.
I would somehow need to remove these permissions so I could claim ownership
