I have a problem that occurred during a system update with a change in
broadband service.  First I could not install provider issued security
package.  I click on download icon and nothing happens.  (Thought it might
be a bad link and went in through manually entering address)  ...

I have MS windows 2000 pro and have installed an updgrade to xp Pro with SP1.
Once that is installed MS gives me a list of updates to install.  I can get
all of them to install except MS Windows Installer 3.1.  It fails during the
install.

Had to put in a new drive and reload winxp-pro with sp2. For some reason
when updates come up automatically they can't be installed. The first update
is windows gen advantage validation tool. It ran okay before. Anyone know
the reason for the failure and how to fix it?

Happens every time my computer starts up with the internet connection

I am attempting to install xp after fitting a new HDD following a
"failure" of the old one. I have removed all of the add-on pci cards so
the system is down to the bare bones required. I have been running this
version of XP with no problems for 3 years so I know the fault is not

After working well for years, now when trying to preview a scan,"An
error occurred during preview. If the scanner is being used, please
wait for it to complete he task, and then click preview." appears.

Today I purchased a Memorex USB floppy drive.  The drive itself says it is a
TEAC FD-09PUW, however.

My laptop crashed so I installed a new hard drive.  The recovery disk had
windows xp with sp1.  I am using a home network for my other 2 computers but
cannot connect the laptop to the router until I get sp2 installed on the
