I have a laptop that will not boot. It hits the XP boot screen, crashes and then reboots. Can I reinstall XP Pro and have it repair the files without loosing my data? I need to get into the HD long enough to back it up and reformat.

On trying to burn some tracks to a CD. I get a message saying Cannot detect CD Writer or DVD Writer. Hit F5. Did this but nothing happens. Both the CD Writer and DVD Writer work ok when playing tracks. System Window XP Home. Cd Writer 'Lite On'. Any advice please. Thanks

I have an old program named InfoSelect3 which I purchased on a floppy disk in 1995 or 1996. It is installed on my current machine (XP Pro). It used to run on this machine but I haven't run it in years. Now I need some data only accessible from this program and I can't get at it.
