the system is unable to run either, nor am i able to gain access to them

Probably a dumb question!! But I have had to replace my hard drive on my
notebook. I don't have any back up CD (Doh!) as the re-installation software
was on a partition on my old drive.
I guess I can get the various drivers that I will need from the Web, but

Hi everyone :) Last night upon restarting my comp. The dialog box "windows

I hesitate to do this unless I can exclude JPG files as surely they would

How do I find a file type? I got an attachment sent to me and it wont
open--create an association i the Folder Options control panel etc........I

When I boot my PC the "MY Computer" folder opens on the desktop. I've tried
googling to find answers. Lots of ideas but no answers that fixed...any help
appreciated. I've been looking for answers for 3 weeks.

I had always thought that no matter when you saved files on a hard disk
under XP that they would be listed in ASCII order in the directory (once it
was refreshed).  I think I forgot that the length of the file name might
affect this.

I have a Dell workstation with a 160GB SATA WEstern Digital Drive in
it.  It has been functioning fine for the last several years.  I have
Norton Security installed on it, and regularly scan for viruses and
spyware.  No problems, except some intermittent slowness recently.

I have my desktop icons hidden.  When I right click the desktop and choose
"show desktop icons" my wallpaper disappears.  I can see the icons but not
the wallpaper.  When I hide them the wallpaper reappears.  Thanks for the
