I'm trying to restore my xp media center pc to factrory settings and can't
remember how to do it. I've made recovery dvd's but they aren't working. Can
someone tell me how to do a restore to factory settings. Please. Please.

I ran this command on my XP SP3 machine and it stated that the task was
created successfully, however, when I go on "Scheduled tasks" and click
Properties of my calculator task it pops an error stating "Invalid data - An
error ocurred attempting to retrieve account information" ...

I just found out there's a SP3 fror Windows XP. I'm using Windows XP Pro. Do I
need to download this? I'm surprised it didn't download as one of the automatic
updates Windows periodically installs. Thanks.

If I install a full version of Windows XP Pro over and existing installation
of Windows XP Home Edition will it completely overwirte it or will it give me
the option to just do an upgrade.

My isp is Comcast and to set up smtp I need to compromise security with
Outlook Express. My work around at no cost is to ask questions here, receive
answers at my hotmail account and come here to do a search with my name or

my neighbour's laptop with XP won't shut down at all now - the screen is
"frozen" with an announcement "preparing for shutdown", the mouse cursor
can be moved, pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL has no effect, closing the lid makes

Can I delete all the profiles on an old machine at once? If so how?
I have an older machine with about 20 profiles on it and it takes to long to
delete them one at a time.

I currently have a windows xp sp2 machine.
The problem I'm having is, whenever I try to open a XML file fro

When I boot my system I get a screen asking which windows I wish to start.
The reason for this is my D drive used to be my old system drive. Despite a
reformat I still get the message. Is it possible to lose this message?

I recently did a system restore to last week since I'd noticed my
computer was running slow. When Windows restarted, it booted up to a
blank screen with no mouse visible or anything. Safe mode freezes while
it is booting up around the map file. What do I do?

My computer frequently gets into a situation where a process locks up the
system by running away with the CPU.  The process usually shows up in Task
Manager running explorer.exe, though sometimes it's iexplore.exe or the login
program.
