I running xp pro I installed sp2 from a CD . had a problem with a tax program

This just recently started happening .... when I open up a new internet
explorer site, any othr one that is open, is automatically closed ... a bit
frustrating. Not sure what happened and why it is happening. Thanks for your

When I click Install Updates for SP3, the Installing Updates window
says, "The updates are being downloaded and installed" and Installation
status displays, "Downloading Windows XP Service Pack 3 (KB936929)
(update 1 of 1) . . . " but the Downloading progress bar is blank and

I have had an XP upgrade running over ME for over a year. Recently I have
changed hardware to fix a few problems. Now XP has given me three days to
re-activate it. Unfortunately when I try and activate it, the pop up
activation window is blank, with two "missing graphics" boxes ...

I have a couple of XP Pro machines with this problem.
We have a LAN based on SBS 2003. I can ping them successfully but I cannot
access their shares. Figuring that there may be a firewall issue, I decided
to disable it to see if that made a difference. However the firewall is set
