i was trying to install a new printer and the computer wouldnt open the cd, so i went to My Computer and neither the dvd or cd drives existed there anymore. how can i put them back?

Is there any way I can set up which application to use as the default to open the Hosts file, as one can do with txt or doc files? I'm running SP3. Thanks for any help.

I have tried everywhere. When I install SP2 on my SP1 Home Edition, Internet Explorer refused to open. It's in the Tasklist but will not open on the screen. I need to install the new MESSENGER so I can chat with my wife when she's not home but it will not let me install on SP1 ...

When I put a new heard drive into my Compaq Evo, I had to re-installed XP, but the process didn't go as smoothly as I would have liked. Now I have problems with my audio driver, which suggest to me that its interrupt priority is set wrong with respect to other interrupts.

(cont. from previous thread) As I said, my system came pre-installed with XP Media Center Edition. All updates installed, most 3rd parrty programs removed (have AVG Anti-Virus free edition), Service Pack 3, 1GB memory, on a Dell laptop.

Undo what you did just before the BSOD. Then never re-do that step. Even if some forum tells you it will make your Pentium into a HexCore computer.....
