I am having a problem playing AVI files it will play one time and then put a bar across the screen the sound plays but the second time or second movie will not play if you reboot the computer it will play only one time. Does anyone know what this could be

i used to have no problems, (bought my laptop 8 months ago) but now the video is running strangely, jerky. Also my screen isn't scrolling smoothly when connected to internet etc, are these connected, do i have a general problem with something here??? please help, am going crazy ...
