The camera is a JVC GR DVL 805 Digital movie camera. It came with a cable that fits into the camera on 1 end and the other fits into the computer, a fairly recently built one. It is USB and the other is Firewire.

I'm not sure what is going on, but perhaps some app I had previously installed is causing this. When I right click on any .mpg or .avi file, my system freezes for a split section and my screen flashes. It's kind of like it's trying to auto preview the file or something.

I recently purchased a Dell 8400 w/xp media edition, Radeon X300SE, TVT1 and a LCD TV. I am able to picture in picture to compare the direct cable feed into the TV to the picture from the video/tv card.
