On my DELL Inspiron 4000 laptop (PIII 700 MHz, ATI Mobility 8 MB video card), I used to playback WMV8 or 9 encoded video with WMP9 in full screen at rates in the range of 1 Mbps with excellent quality (no frame loss) and about 70~80 % CPU usage.

I installed a verto geforce4 mx 4000 PCI 64mb card in a ASUS A7VL-VM mobo, disabled the on board video 1st, put the card in, plugged monitor in new card, when I restart it recognizes the new card, but when windows loads (win. XP pro.)
