I have a new HP with Windows XP Pro and a Canon Elura 50 DV Camcorder. I have purchased a firewire IEEE 1394 and have hooked them up, but I cannot get it to work. Help ASAP this is for my junior french final!!!

Help please! When playing a DVD I have the audio but not the video. All I get is a black screen. I am up to date on the codecs and drivers. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm at a loss now... so here I am. Sometimes my dvd player works fine.. other times it will not read any disc that I put it. The drivers are up to date and Microsofts trouble shooting isn't helping me any.
