Captured video from Sony DCR TRV740 onto Windows Movie Maker: see video but no audio. Mute is turned off. On expanding the Video line on the Storyboard, there does seem to be an audio line. What is wrong?

Hoping someone can help me out. When ever I play files is Media player they're always appear in neon green and yellow and all blocky and skip. The sound is fine just the picture is complete nonsense! Does anyone know what might be causing this and how I might be able to fix it?

they've played fine on my computer before but today they play to about 2/3rds of the way through and then get choppy and freeze......i played them on my ps2 and they play fine....i have no idea what to do.
