I'm running out of free space on my computer, and I have a lot of music, video and pictures- but i don't want to delete them. Will they take up less space if I compress them? Songs are all .mp3, video is all .avi, and pictures are either .jpg or .gif. I dont know if that matters ...

I've been using my Sony DCR-PC9 without any problems for the past few years. However, recently my computer stopped detecting my camcorder! I connect through a FireWire connection. I tested my camcorder and cable on another computer running XP SP2 and it works perfectly fine.

This was my first attempt at capturing a home video to my hard drive. I've tried everything to delete it, but access is denied. Its properties show it's a .vob file. There are no other files associated with it. (Not that there wasn't in the beginning, but I've probably deleted ...

when I play .avi files on windows xp (using nero showtime usually) I notice that the sound progressively goes out of sync with the video, i.e. it falls behind. I'm not sure what the problem could be but I'm guessing it's either;

I have a quick question regarding mplayer (Windows). I have a Flash Video file that is 109 seconds long, and 29.970 fps. From this, I would guess that there were ~3267 frames in the video file. However, when I run the command:

While trying to make a DVD, the system gets almost 1/2 through "converting files" then just stops. I've tried everying and dont' seem to be able to get it to complete. How exactly are you supposed to put the finished video onto a DVD? Am i doing somethign wrong?

The subject is my goal. I wsa able to hook up my camera to the firewire port and import my MINI-DV onto my system in DV-ISA format, using the HQ option. One file is 8GB, the other is 3GB. I can play the video in Windows Media Player and ATI Media
