My computer won't let me watch dvd's. It's say that my dvd decoder is either
not functioning or i need to install one. My knowledge on computers is slim
to none...but i do know that my computer has played DVD's before. Help please!

Whenever I try to play a vieo (whether from my camera, online, etc) all I see
is a balck screen- but I can all the sound from the video.  This occurs with
all my media players- Media PLayer 11, Real PLayer, etc.
Any suggestions??????????

I Just bought a custom made computer after I installed windows I noticed
that i had no sound. I have all the drivers for it and every thing, I
just don't get whats wrong. Could some one please help me....

I had to   "o" out my hard drive and now I get no sound from my
computer I do have a sound card and there was sound before  new to this

I have downloaded video footage to my computer, which I have no trouble
playing through Windows Media Player 11.  However, when I try to import the
clips into Windows Movie Maker it returns an error saying...
"could not be imported. An interface has too many methods to fire events ...

Had no problem once apon a time playing DVD's on the Dell Innspiron 6000.    
   It's got 2 gigs of memory and all the other toys but for some
reason,these days,I'll pop a movie in and it will play like an ols "Godzilla"
movie dubbed over in English...                            ...

I tried to use Windows Media Player play a DVD and  a few other DVD players
as well, but the DVD just won't play.  I can read all the files on the DVD
and as a CD drive the DVD drive works just fine.  Windows Media detects an
error and sends an error report, but that does not ...

I cannot see images in thumbnail view for video files in windows xp
professional which is the OS I am running on this computer. I'm not exactly
sure when it happened but up to a certain point I could see the thumbnails
for video and now I can see the old ones but a lot of videos ...

Every time I put in and empty CD to copy something off my hard drive it
reads that there are 4 files on the CD--when I go to properties of these 4
files I'm told they are "read only" and cannot be deleted

OK, now that I am making home videos, I would like to burn more than one clip
on the DVD.  Which type of DVD (DVD+RW or DVD-RW) should I buy?  Can I add
clips after burning the video or will the new clips just replace what is
already on the disc?

I just bought a portable media center that allows for the playing of videos

I would like to transfer some old VCR tapes to DVD to preserve them.
However, I find the capture cards run from $39.95 to over $1,000.  I'm sure
the latter are pretty good, but I'm really not looking for super quality.
Anybody have any experience/comments on the lower priced ...

I have a .wmv video clip that on some computers causes the screen to go
blank.  I have to reboot and then the computer is OK.  On other computers the
clip plays fine.
This file is 12,545KB and was made from a .mpg file shot from my digital
