Window XP Home eventually starts ok. But the normal DOS and Windows screen that used to show the loading bar scale doesn't appear and there is a blank screen with an error message that pops up about 7 times before XP starts that says "unsupported mode" together

whenever i insert a blank dvd to start burning i get a message saying either the drive is busy or the disc isn't ready. i can even leave the disc in there for half an hour but still get the same message. it reads original dvds and some burned ones.
