I have a PAL miniDV tape and a NTSC sony trv900 camcorder.
The tape plays and displays fine on the build-in LCD screen.
And according to what I found on the web, it also outputs PAL video via
firewire.

I run a central server on my home network. If I store videos on it, and
try and run them directly from my video share, I'll wind up with the
local system acting like it doesn't have the proper video codec

A friend of mine asked me to help him with his notebook because there
seems to be a performance issue when watching videos on youtube and
similar sites. The notebook, a sony vaio, is some years of age, but
should be still capable for web browsing. It has windows XP installed.

Moviemaker 2.1 automatically clips the .avi movies I import into it, which I
guess it is supposed to do, but when I paste more than 8 clips onto the story
board in automatically closes, no dialogues, error messages or anything. If

I have done 3 photo videos in Movie Maker.  Two of them work fine.  The other
gets to one slide and stays there.  Music continues to play.  I have recopied
to Media Player about 6 times.  No luck.  I want to copy this for my parents.
I am so frustrated!
