I have an HP desktop that's about 2 years old (P4-2.99Ghz). It have 1.5 gb
of memory.

When one of the windows shuts down, other instances would shut down too

    Had an ocassion to use SFC (syntax:-scannow) & when finished I rebooted,here
is where the problem starts.
After the reboot,I could get past the startup.It keept rebooting,I could not
