Hi and sorry if this is not in the right group, but I couldn't find a forum
specifically for Windows Defender.
I have Defender installed, but I am beginning to wonder if it's even doing
anything.  I don't see any alerts and I never find any trace of it detecting

I have a computer on a DOMAIN and it's set to go to Standby mode after 1
hour.  The problem is that I have different users using the same computer on
the same domain.  Is there a way to tell XP to logout when it goes into
Standby?

I used True Image to back up my Win XP 12G NTFS System Partition to separate
internal HD formatted NTFS.  The resulting image is 5,113,960KB.  I then did
the same thing to a FAT32 USB external drive and got two files -- one
4,194,304KB and the other 820,934KB for a total of 5,015 ...

I use WinXP.  I recently installed IE7.  I also use Google Toolbar.
Now my Autocomplete works on the Address bar, even though I unchecked
the Autocomplete box in the Tools, Options, Advanced tab. How can I
shut it off Autocomplete?

I've tried to read all the pertinent questions and answers regarding updating

Hello. I have Windows XP SP2 on an Acer laptop. When I click on
Start>Search>For Files or Folders, it comes up to the Windows Explorer

Okay so here is the thing.
Recently I discovered that all of my .txt documents (Notepad documents),
their icons have been changed to a folded page with the original logo in the
middle.

I have some how eliminated the abiliyt to open most of the Microsoft programs
such as Word  , Access, Exxcel, & soforth. The Icons are there but when I

For some reason, unknown to me, I started getting .BAK files, daily, in the
Recycle Bin, for every file in My Documents.  I haven't changed anything that
I know of.  All I do is the Updates as they come down.  Any Help would be

I have been experiencing problems with my PC getting to 100% CPU usage and
then freezing. I have managed to find out through a Virus scan than my PC
will freeze when it gets to Delete MSACCESS.EXE.12E7C9F9.pf which is located
in c:\windows\Prefetch.

Got a Seagate "FreeAgent Pro" 750GB external drive, tried to connect it to
existing eSATA port (have been using a WD 500GB in PowerSpec enclosure with
no problems).
Couldn't find the Seagate by doing "Rescan Disks" in Computer Management, so
