Windows freezes when saving to network or printing29 Jan 2008 12:54 GMT5
I am hoping somebody can help me with this problem - I have a computer
which is being used by an architect using Autocad.
Sometimes when he prints, or saves items onto the network the computer
freezes and needs to be rebooted.

This will be long-winded, but I'm going to try to be as specific as
possible. I'm a network administrator for a company and we started a
process of upgrading all of our off-site computers. All of our

my usb external hard drive and little thumb drives were working
perfectly, now they don't work at all. the system is not recognizing
them. i changed around everything, put camera usb cable where external
drive was and camera still is recognized, changed back and no luck. i

I recently did a fresh install of Windows XP on a new computer, and I'm
finding that the 3D graphics are very jumpy in several places, including
some, but not all 3D-oriented games, and in the standard 3D Windows
screensavers.

I have WindowsXPpe[sp2] on my test computer, and when I use WinAudit,
it tells me that the 4 partions on the hard disk are a network 'Special
Share'. I have checked the properties on all 4 drives, and sharing is
not enabled. What is a 'Special Share', and what would have activated

I have windows xp home edition.
I use comodo firewall I turned off the automatic start up of comodo at
system start up and then I decided to uninstall it.
I have the windows firewall enabled(on) and every time I turn my

I'm using the off-line folders default setup when XP Pro machines hook up to
a Win2k3 server AD domain and I'm finding that the off-line folders feature
just won't work with certain laptops because the user has sooooo much crap
on them that the sync never completes.

I have a Lexmark T632 network printer that randomly goes offline and the
display is inoperative until power is cycled.  The printer has been replaced
along with a new NIC.

I have an XP server with a directory with over half a million files in
it, with long numerical names such as 123456_234567.TIF. I wanted to
get a sample of them, so I ran a command prompt and executed "dir
12345*". It returned a list of files that mostly - but not entirely -

For no apparent reason my laptop has become painfully slow. Symptoms are:
startup, shutdown, freezing up, and on and on. Also following a freeze I keep

When a vacant space in Windows Explorer is right-clicked, it has "New"
as one of the menu items. Moving the mouse over this "New" menu item

links I click on in FF open in FF.  All files on my hard drive of
filetype htm and html also open in FF. All links in any e-mail
