Just did a reload of XP from IBM product recovery cds - everything completed
successfully, I downloaded all MS updates, then reinstalled my applications
including McAfee. I used the machine for a while, went to a meeting, and when

In a local network, the vista desktop sees another network computer as

WindowsXP Service Pack2 doesn't appear in Add or Remove Programs so I assume
it's not installed and want to install it.  However, when I run Auto Update
it doesn't prompt me to install Service Pack2.
How do I install Service Pack2 if Auto Update doesn't prompt me?

For some reason under my sound properties under the advanced button, my
volume for 'wave' keeps getting turned all the way down and therefore I have
no sound. No consistent reason why this happens. Anyone heard of this and
know how to fix it? Thanks much.

I'm trying to use the files and settings transfer wizard with a direct cable
connection to transfer from my desktop to a new laptop both using Windows XP
home edition.   When I'm on the 'old computer' both the option to transfer
using a 'direct cable' or 'other removable media' ...

Spybot scan sayes that my is infected with Smithfraud-C.MSVPS which it cannot
delete the file. Googled lead me to this site

As SP3 includes all previous hotfixes/patches, do I have to install SP2 first,
then SP3 in order for SP3 to install.

Hi there - I have some battery icon confusion and I was wondering if
anyone has seen this:
Operated my Dell XPS m1710 on battery power then when the battery was
almost empty (battery icon visible in system tray, about 10% left) I

Can't install above. The installation wizard halts and an error message pops
up telling me that I have to uninstall any previous versions  before  Office
2007 can be installed. I don't understand because I have used the add/remove
tool to uninstall Office 2000. Could it be that ...
