I am trying to move files and settings from an old Windows ME computer with no ethernet adapter to a new XP box with ethernet and USB ports but no serial port. Both have USB ports. Can I do transfer the files and settings using a CD? Both boxes do have CDs.

Please be part of the solution, not the problem. There are *many* time I can refer an OP to a fifferent group for a good answer, but why should I when I know the answer myself. That is plan "passing the buck, and laziness"

i don't know what i'm after doing, but now my open windows don't show on my taskbar, ie. the small buttons that allow you to switch between open programs are gone. i have checked the other profiles on the computer and only mine has this problem. it's really frustrating.
