I just bought a ThinkPad laptop (XP Pro EN) and I'm wondering how to remove
a shortcut (icon) in the start menu:
The shortcut is visually situated below the "run" and the "search" shortcut
in the start menu (just above the "log off" shortcut). I've never saw a

I like many others am having a challenging time getting the Realtek HD

I have read the material from MS and many web sites and of course these

I keep running into a situation whereby two machines, no matter what I
do, seem to go to sleep after 1 or 2 hours.
The power settings are all set to Always On.  Hibernation has been

I am a multitasker. That is why I love the mute button when on a
conference call in my home. It allows me to get a few small tasks
done, let my dog in and out of the house and keep a running commentary
going with the host, with no one the wiser.

I have a Toshiba Satellite Notebook running Win XP w/ SP2 applied.  The
machine will not - under any circumstances - recognize either a network
printer (using Add Printer Wizard, Add Hardward Wizard, native printer setup

I have a Dell that is running XP Service Pack 2 and up until about a month
ago I had no problems at all.  Now I am about ready to dump this thing and

I neede to replace a motherboard and I do not want to reibnstall windows.  I
have a piece of software that cannot be reinstalled and is no longer
available.  My old MB used HALACPI.DLL and the new motherboard wants

I downloaded a file Norton_removal_tool.exe from Symantec, and when I try to
run it, it gives me an error saying it is not a signed file and will not
run.
Is there a way to "get it signed" ? or simply make it run anyway?

Is there any significant difference in usefulness between the way
Windows XP built in defragmenting tool defragments a hard partition and
the way PerfectDisk does it?
The reason I ask is because I have PerfectDisk installed on both my

I have 4 users (inc myself as Admin) using XP Home SP2; I recently had to use
the OEM Restore disk because "Config" could not be found at boot; I restored
successfully back to the initial state of the computer, and a backup was made
by the process. Because I had to reinstall all ...
