Computer has started to beep, short beeps, which continue until shutdown, it doesn't effect what I'm doing. So I shut down, and on re-boot it starts again. What could this be?

I am using Windows XP, after some virus attack I am having the problem, that when ever I try to open any system drive (eg. C: or D: or E: .....) by double clicking or right click > Open / Explore, every time the "Open with" window appears.

When I did my backup, I used xcopy C:\documents /e/c, but now I regret. I cannot open the backup folder. It just says there is no data in there and 0 files reported. How do I rescue data from this folder?
