Just recovered from a hijack/virus/malware.
Somehow the drives (C: hard drive, D: floppy) have dissappeared from My
Computer...but they are still there and they are present in a newly created
user acct.

when I try to start the computer I get this error:
windows no disk
exception processing message c0000013 parameters 75b6bf9c  4 75b6bf9c 75b6bf9c
the desktop appears and then disappears

I purchased a Compaq Presario V2310US laptop-
it had Windows XP installed- and it was running great.
I upgraded the memory in the machine to 2 gigs and decided to re-install
Windows XP a week after doing so.

There's a problem that I've had several times with my DVD drive, and
it just happened again yesterday.  
Basically, the system gets into a state where it says there is no disk
in the drive, even though there is.  I've tried using different disks,

Open folders get closed on reboot?
It used to be in XP that open files "stayed open"
after a reboot.  That was cool, a neat way and reminder
to continue working where I was before booting.

I have a legal license's copy of XP which came loaded on my HP Desktop

Hey all.. since i really badly messed up my computer i will be reformating
except that i do not have a CD. I will be buying one from Costco and i have a

This is a Dell Dimension 4600 with XP PRo still with SP1.  When I remove all
four user's passwords they show cleared; then if I return right back to the
Users applet, they show they are password protected again.  Did this six
times.  The password asked for is unknown.  Does not ...

I'm cleaning out software from my pc I'm going to donate to a Church. When I
rebooted, WinXP SP2 said it needed to be activated. Of course trying to
activate over the internet fails. What gives?

Does anyone have any suggestions on not able to install Messenger for XP?
When I try to install Messenger using WLinstaller.exe, it cannot completely
install the Messenger. Will it be Microsoft Server problem or other?
