On the Windows Explorer window, the color of the folder icon got changed. I

I seem to have lost the Bin's ability to hold 'deleted' files. When I
click to delete a file, the file is deleted immediately rather than

when i boot up mt compaq computer i get as far as compaq screen then i have
to wait for hours then it finally gets to the desktop.  Ive checked for

This error occurs everytime i open a drive where my multimedias are.

I just purchased an old used Toshiba Satellite laptop with a 20GB hard
drive (Shows 18.x GB capacity in Explorer).  It has Windows XP Home
edition installed.  I went through it and cleaned out any of the

I have pemanently fragmented files. The defragmentation tool says the
relevant file names are in the report but nothing is listed. Files
defragmented properly prior to SP3 (which was SP2). Coincidence?

My computer started to act slow so i got online to see about a virus scan

I have a desktop which performs reasonably well with 512 MB RAM and recently
I upgraded my laptop to have the same 512 MB of RAM but the performance is
infinitely slower on my laptop
What steps can I take to improve this performance>

At one time when I ran defrag I only used to have one or two green
(unmovable) stripes. I now have 6 - is there anything I should do about
this? I like to keep things optimised.
