After playing with my UPS, I can see entries in the system log with a yellow
triangle, (where I've been switching the mains power off and on),
...is there any way to get these pop out in system tray, or appear on the
destop as they appear ?

A friend had a badly infected computer - Dell Inspiron 5160.
After running AVG and Spybot S&D and removing the nasties, it will not
boot.

When I press 'Search' in Windows Explorer the Search dialogue no
longer appears. Instead a two-pane window is replaced by a single pane
window.

After trying to add a new program QTLite (an alternative to QuickTime)

Ok, I could set a cmd.exe's switches when calling a batch file by entering
cmd.exe /U mybatchfile.bat
But assume I start with the default /A (ANSI) or just by double clicking on a *.bat file.
Now (after some performed statements) I want to switch output to /U (=Unicode).

I run XP SP3 and IE7.  After some initial problems, and with advice from this
forum, I downloaded SP3 from Microsoft Download Center and re-installed it
with my AVG 7.5 antivirus and Win Defender both disabled.  This was good
advice  - it now seems to work fine.

Whenever i open explorer, file name are not listed properly.  Even i click on
name to sort it by alphabetically it still displays in a wrong order.  For
example  2 3 5 6 2 8 7 9 in numbers.   abcd...m...a....y...e  etc.
