I have an XP computer about two years old.  For the last several
months it's behaved in a very annoying way:  Every second or so,
things which should be moving smoothly stop briefly, then continue.
These things include:

My laptop has developed a habit of failing to copy and paste.
No error, no beep, just nothing happens when I paste.
Happens across all apps, even notepad.
Windows XP SP2. Office 2002.

Ok, i don't really know how to start with this so i'll just get straigh
to it.
Today I turned on my computer, same as pretty much everyday, however
experienced a problem with my monitor.

I sometimes discover that the task bar which is normally at the bottom of the
screen has disappeared.  The only way I have found to restore it is to
re-boot.  Is there a more direct way?

After connecting to windows update the other evening and downloading WGA &
IE7 along with other updates my computer asked me to activate windows when it

was accidentally deleted all of the information on my real/ recognised

can someone please advise of a fix?
when I open add remove hardware, it lists 3 items at the top, then the
screen goes black with a white stripe in the middle until almost at the
bottom, then it lists the remaining items.

When I try to set the virtual memory, I get an error that says
c:windows/system32/mmc.exe.  says it requested the runtime to terminate.  I
have a gig of ram but don't want to run without this

A Windows XP/wSP1 is needed to create a BartPE CD.
My installation disk is a Toshiba Recovery and Application/Drivers DVD
Satellite M50/M55 series.
How can I check this disk, to see if it has already SP1 on it?
Icon set to "always show" reverts to "hide when inactive"22 May 2008 03:41 GMT2
I have an icon in the taskbar that I set to "Always show".  However as soon
as I reboot I find it's been reset to "Hide when inactive".  Other icons stay
set to the "Always show" mode after a reboot, and there's nothing unusual
about this one that I'm aware of.  Any ideas?
