I am trying to troubleshoot a problem with one of my PCs. After it
runs for a couple of weeks, I have noticed that the left-click on a
desktop icon brings up the properties page instead of running the
program.

WinXP Home Edition Version 2002 SP2, current with Windows Updates, on a Dell
laptop.
IE7, MS Office 2000, Opera 9.27, etc.
I have a strange text rendering issue in some applications. I suspect that

Vista is generally known as the worst and most hated MICROSOFT operating
system ever made.
Many were smart enough to wait (and still use XP) until the better faster
windows 7 would come out...

In some of my folders, the text underneath the icon is blue. Why? recently,
I also found some files on my computer mysteriously gone. Is it another

I just bought a copy of Windows XP Pro and installed it.  I noticed that my
screen saver doesn't come on after the set time and the odd time that it
does, it stays on for less that a minute and then goes back to the desktop
screen, or logon if I set a password.
