I have Explorer 6.0, Windows XP (75GB with 60 free!) and yet my comp freezes
several times a day. When I try to end program thru the task mgr., I get the
error message with the option to send or not send, and that's where my comp
completely stops at that function with no reponse ...

I've heard about horrible problems involving SP3 on some AMD computers. I
cannot afford to have my work computer down, even for a day.
I think I'll wait until this mess gets cleared up.

My taskbar has suddenly changed to double line; any help in resizing to
single line would be appreciated. TIA

I downloaded SP3 and it prompted me to restart my computer. Once I did this,
my computer won't come back on. It's seems to be looping and goes to a blue
screen then a black screen that asked me if I want to start up in normal,
safe, last successfull start up - doesn't matter what ...

I have received an automatic update for Windows Software Removal Tool KB890830
to-day 9 times. How can I tell whether this update has been done. I disabled
my antivirus, popup blocker etc bfore installing this update but I still get
it.

Is the administrator's password needed to access the Xp Recovery Console the
same as a user password with administrative rights?

I have a recurring catroot2 corruption issue.  When it happens the machine
asks for Admin credentials to install simple devices like optical mouse,
flash drive. This has happened mostly for one machine image, but not
exculsively. If I rename the c:\windows\system32\catroot2\edb ...

I run two computers with Win XP Pro. One is a desktop that I built
myself, the other is an IBM/Lenovo laptop.  Both computers also run
Windows Llive Onecare and are set to automatically receive updates. I
still have to pull the trigger to apply the updates.

I've experienced this before, but I don't recall what I did to fix it:
when I use any program to open a file, the files are listed in mod order,
but reverse.  I've gone to "Arrange Icons By..." and changed it to "Names;"

I have recently changed my ISP from tiscali to virgin but when i turn on my
pc and click on internet explorer tiscali tried to connect and blocks
everything up. I have got rid of everything in add and remove to do with
tiscali but it still says microsoft internet explorer ...

I have a few questions about disk storage.
Can I install XP Pro on a dynamic volume? How do I create the dynamic
volume during install? Or is it possible to convert the basic volume
to dynamic after install?

I have windows XP home and my computer boots suddenly. Sometimes it just
hangs after booting and I have to press the button on the machine to restart.
I have anti-virus (McAfee) installed and have checked for virus several times
but apart from spyware and a few trojans in mp3 ...

I've got a crash dump and I can't figure out from dumpchk where the problem
is. It's from a system running XP Home SP2. Here's the output from
