Hi, ran a virus cleaner and it DAMAGED the XP registry. When I go to click on a desktop executable or executable icon, windows is asking for the PROGRAM to run the .exe file! It's confused! Is there a FIX for this? WHAT got damaged here?

the maximum burning speed reported in the properties of my samsung SH-S182M combo burner is 124X if I change it back to 48X wich is my real maximum speed in the registry and put a blank dvd in it goes back to 124X

I receive this "Access is denied"-error when trying to install the Service Pack 3 for Windows XP. When trackign down the error in the svcpack.log (see udnerneath), it has apparently something to do with missing rights on my registry, which is quit bizar because I am Administrator ...

WHY is it people go on about using gpedit without first asking IF the person with the windows XP problem is even using XP Pro? Not everyone uses XP Pro. That being so, WHY assume that gpedit is part of ALL windows versions?

My computer ran into some trouble recently and for some reason the hard drive just formatted itself?? I was doing some really important coursework at the time so a friend gave me a windows xp professional disc, which is non-genuine.
