XP Home SP3 is doing the following:
1) Upon boot, there is a strange set of beeps just as the bluish "Welcome"
screen appears.  This does not seem to directly affect anything, but I have
not seen another machine beep at this point.

Windows always assume c:\ as a music folder and it enables Artist/Album
Title etc columns for view.
how do I reset it? The option to customize this folder doesn't show up
in the properties dialog box as its a system root.

I'm trying to stop a very long print to a dotmatrix printer
on the parallel port.
The program doesn't make use of the Windows Printers
facility, it simply does a  'copy <myfile> to prn'

I have another XP machine that I have to manually install the SP3 and office
updates ever since I updated IE 6.0.  Why does that happen?  I am no longer
able to use the IE "windows update" routine.  I need to go to the Micro$oft
KB and download the SP3 and office update files and ...

Graphic suggests the command is working but it is not.  Screenshot appears
which reads "Windows encountered a problem when trying to copy this folder.  
What do you want Windows to do?"  Options are retry, skip and cancel.

i have windows xp, sp 2 with all the latest security updates.  for about a
month now when i log in, the screeen only shows the background and no icons.

I have an Asus mobo with high definition sound integrated.
When I try to install the drivers from the CD or Asus website, the
installation works for about 90% then it fails.
I get a message saying configuration is incorrect.
