Within the next week, my subscriptions to AVAST Home Edition and
SpyNoMore expire.
In the entire past year AVAST has never detected a virus...until it
was set to expire. Then my Laptop, a Dell Inspiron E1505, went off

I am trying to use Windows XP backup.  In the article "Windows XP Backup Made

or, for that matter file/folder backups.
I'm also NOT interested in comparing software (I can do that).  The only

Cleartype and password character corruption20 Jun 2008 16:31 GMT2
Has anyone noticed that cleartype corrupts the password character (big dot).
It's not completely round -- flat on the top, and pointy on the bottom.  This
doesn't happen on initial login (after a cold startup), only after a login
from a locked/suspended/hibernated machine.  It's ...

After the install 40 more megs were used!
Microphone won't record20 Jun 2008 16:02 GMT1
Ok, so I did a "microphone" keyword search through here and read the threads

I'm running Windows XP on a Dell.  The sound works fine, the mic works on
another Dell.

Applications retaining memory after shutdown20 Jun 2008 15:19 GMT1
Several applications including all of the Office 2003 suite do not leave
memory when shutdown. Some applications will not restart until they are
killed in the task manager.
Firefox used to do it, but the latest version has stopped the problem.
How to determine memory usage?20 Jun 2008 15:15 GMT25
I have 512 MB of memory and want to know if there are built-in tools in WinXP
Home to tell the memory usage. I am concerned that my PC is running slowly
when I have too many applications open due to this, and may need to add more
memory. Thanks for any information.
