I am running XP on a 2004 Dell Machine. Last night I turned on the computer and it went to a black DOS type screen and gave this message: Windows could not start because the following file is messing or corrupt: <windows root>\system32\hal.dll.

Does anyone know if there is any information on maximum recommended uptime for Windows XP? I tend to reboot my PC daily after all why leave a PC running when I am not using it? However an issue has arisen with a client who apparently never reboots their PCs as matter of policy ...

Just heard a story that to stream radio it uses about 11MB of bandwith for every hour streamed - can this be taken as a indication figure of is the figure way off the truth.Anyone know what the true figure is? Thanks for the help

I installed the microsoft.net framework 2.0 service pack 1 (185MB) and upgraded to 3.0 service pack 1 (245MB) and then to 3.5 (25MB) and they all appear in the Control Panel. Does this mean the actual size of this programme in my pc is the sum total

Anyone having strange occurrences after installing Service Pack 3? After the upgrade my machine wouldn't boot, I looked at the BIOS and boot disk was changed to D:drive, switched back to C: and everything OK.
