I am running XP on a 2004 Dell Machine.  Last night I turned on the computer
and it went to a black DOS type screen and gave this message:
Windows could not start because the following file is messing or corrupt:
<windows root>\system32\hal.dll.

Does anyone know if there is any information on maximum recommended uptime
for Windows XP?  I tend to reboot my PC daily after all why leave a PC
running when I am not using it?  However an issue has arisen with a client
who apparently never reboots their PCs as  matter of policy ...

Just heard a story that to stream radio it uses about 11MB of bandwith for every hour streamed - can this be taken as a indication figure of is the figure way off the truth.Anyone know what the true figure is?

Running WinXP SP2. Everything's fine until I connect to an external hard
drive over USB. After a few minutes Windows Exporer hangs - have to kill it
with task manager. Usually I get a couple of minutes of use before it hangs.

I installed the microsoft.net framework 2.0 service pack 1 (185MB) and
upgraded to 3.0 service pack 1 (245MB) and then to 3.5 (25MB) and they all
appear in the Control Panel.
Does this mean the actual size of this programme in my pc is the sum total

I have a multiple problem that I'm hoping for "simple" help with as I'm not
comfortable making Registry edits and am a semi-novice. On booting up Windows
XP:   Error Loading C:\WINDOWS\system32\tlrqlswg.dll AND again for

Anyone having strange occurrences after installing Service Pack 3? After the
upgrade my machine wouldn't boot, I looked at the BIOS and boot disk was
changed to D:drive, switched back to C: and everything OK.

I've seen about every other login problem but this one.  I've had NO issues
with my computer, and haven't installed new software.  Today I rebooted and
the account icon cannot be clicked. I tried using the alt+tab keys and was
able to highlight the icon, but could not select it ...

I have an OKI printer that has been hooked directly to my computer with
a USB cable for 4 months; today it stopped working.  I searched for all
OKI files and deleted all of them, re-installed all the drivers and I am

the lid of my laptop to rest for a period of time because i have to go away,
it no longer is able to encounter my family's wireless network, so i have to
