It appears explorer.exe is not starting when some of our users logon.  They
can get it to start by using task manager.  I found a hotfix supplied by
Microsoft (list above), but although the install finishes, the KB log
indicates the following:

After I select show hidden files and folders in Folder options an error
appears stating Window Explorer encountered a problem...... Must shut down
But when I un-select show hidden files and folders the error does not appear.

For some unknown reason the date in my XP Pro SP2  "Date & Time Properties"
has suddenly decided to change the current day to a date 8 days ahead.  Why -
heavens knows.  I can select the date - click "apply" and then one second
later literally watch the highlighted date gently ...

What is it and do I need it for the computer run right. I checked it in the

When started with the pc they immediately behave like part of the system,
but if started only when needed, with the system already running, a dialogue
