On my desktop,  in the top left of center a little, I have two items
that look to be grey'ed-out icons.  The labels underneath the icons

There are lots of  KB folders and files in the windowsXP folder.   This is
taking up lots of space.  The  SP3 one is  really big.  
Is it safe to delete these folders/files.   If so is there any utility for

I am using the programm hdparm to modify the settings of my HDD
(especially Advanced Power Management). This program works fine, but
