Trying to help a friend who is running XP Pro (SP3). In IE7, kept getting .NET Framework 2.0 runtime error. Tried repair and uninstall in Add/Remove but get "..encountered an error....".

Actually I have two questions: (1) When using the Ctrl Alt Delete to cancel a program, once it does its "job", it freezes up the computer and I have to reboot to remove the ctrl alt delete screen. How can I correct this?

My machine is infected with AntiVirXP08. McAfee Antivirus was unable to remove it. I've read that this virus can make it impossible to install other virus removal tools. It appears that the virus also deleted all my system restore points.
