Trying to help a friend who is running XP Pro (SP3).
In IE7, kept getting .NET Framework 2.0 runtime error.

Actually I have two questions:
(1) When using the Ctrl Alt  Delete to cancel a program, once it does its
"job", it freezes up the computer and I have to reboot to remove the ctrl alt
delete screen.  How can I correct this?

I am trying to install an old app that uses an InstallShield installer
created in 1998 on a new Win XPSP2 computer.  I have done this same install
on another Win XPSP2 computer and it worked just fine.  However, when I click
on Setup.exe, I get a message "c:\temp\setup.exe path ...

I was reorganizing some of my video files and one of them refused to move
because according to Windows, another program was using it.
I used Task Manager to look at the open processes, but I couldn't find any

Ok, I have seen this tread started a few times, and I'm hoping someone has a
solution.  My mom has a machine that had an illigitimate copy of Windows XP
Pro.  She bought a new copy of WinXP Pro and chages the product key.

My machine is infected with AntiVirXP08. McAfee Antivirus was unable to
remove it. I've read that this virus can make it impossible to install other
virus removal tools.
It appears that the virus also deleted all my system restore points.

In doing some cleaning up of my hard disk, I appear to have eliminated some
updates that I probably.  When I go to Microsoft and run an automatic
updating, it shows only one file that is critical (Frameworks.Net) and it
won't install the update unless the original file is there.  ...
