Shall I update memory to make my machine faster? XP SP2, 3

I have a set of .bmp files that represent views taken at one second

i have been reinstalling my system on my laptop.
Most of it is done. I just installed Nero.
When it rebooted my user account is gone.

How can I get the PnpID off an Compact Falsh Card?  I have a card reader
connected to my desktop - I insert the card, look at properties, Device
Manager ... can't find the pnpID.  The card shows up OK in Explorer, can
look at the content, do whatever, everything is working fine.  ...

I can get access to Google earth and from the 'web'  tab, access Yahoo mail
but little else.
IE cannot access a URL, not will Opera but the connection is there. I have

I disabled auto updating. I have XP SP2. I would like to get

I have a Toshiba Laptop model Satellite 2455-S305 that only retains power on
