Why is it better to scan for malware/spyware in safe mode as opposed to
normal windows? I have noticed that people *do* make that distinction, and
I've often wondered why.

My audio computer with a Biostar U8668D motherboard has just started
experiencing mouse problems. The motherboard has the latest
(end-of-life) BIOS. XP is updated and patched to the latest, including
SP3. In fact, the only thing that has changed has been SP3.

During "Startup" I get two messages both of which have "RUNDLL" in the upper
left hand corner and both of which begin with "Error Loading."  The 2
messages are as follows:
1.  c:\windows\system32\uvcemhnc.dll

This is very confusing. Due to some software I installed, my windows
login screen reverted to the "classic" sign-in, where one inputs a
