What are the the pros & cons of installing applications software on a

During an overdue clean up of my PC I have managed to remove (?) Word Pad
from my PC, I did a disc clean up and maybe removed some of my accessories.
My PC has had a few upgrades over the years and now on XP SP3.
So, I am now not sure with CD I need to insert to try and get Word ...

Since doing a fresh reinstallation of XP some of the keys on my
keyboard produce a different symbol on the screen than they are
supposed to i.e. a @ is actually a " and vice-versa.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

I have a very stubborn problem here. I'm look for anyone else's help.  At
startup and error box comes up saying "windows explorer has encountered a
problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."  The
startbar is also frozen so I have to use command lines.

I am running windows XP Pro in spanish and I noticed lately that when I start
up my PC, it's very slow. In task manager I found out that Svchost is using
98 to 100% of my PC and this for over 15 minutes. It stops and very quickly
it starts again using the CPU. What should I do?

Starting Outlook Express always starts up Windows Messenger.
I have unchecked the "Automatically log on to Windows Messenger" option box, but OE
ignores this and starts it anyway.
Anyone know how to stop it?
